Break out your favorite sweater and pour a cup of cider! It’s almost autumn in New York City. With so much to do and see, the Big Apple is one of the best places to explore during the fall season. Admire the colorful foliage in one of our many city parks, or visit a vineyard on Long Island. You can even take the train to Brooklyn for a special event. Halloween parades, harvest festivals, street fairs, and more will leave your family with plenty of lasting memories. Here are some of our favorite Brooklyn events coming up this year.
5 Brooklyn Events to Experience This Fall
1. Badass Brooklyn Fall Festival | September
If you’re an animal lover, the Badass Brooklyn Fall Festival is for you. It’s a huge fundraiser put on by the Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, a non-profit, all-breed dog rescue organization. This annual street festival boasts food and drink vendors, raffles, prizes, and lots of pet-friendly activities. All humans and pups are welcome!
2. The Atlantic Antic | September
The Atlantic Antic Festival is a historic event on Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue. Each year, the entire street closes to traffic and fills up with food vendors, clothing, artwork, jewelry, pottery, and more. Local restaurants and bars also set up in front of their businesses and offer special deals. Stop by with the family or a group of friends and enjoy live music, dance performances, and raffles throughout the day. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the start of fall!
3. Ghouls & Gourds Festival | October
Held at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the Ghouls & Gourds Halloween Festival is fun for the whole family. This beloved event includes live music and entertainment as well as kids activities like book readings, puppet shows, and a costume parade. Be sure to stay for lunch and enjoy harvest-time food and drinks amongst the garden’s breathtaking autumn scenery.

4. Halloween in Bay Ridge | October
Looking for the perfect place to spend Halloween? Consider visiting Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. This community is known for its family-friendly autumn festivals that attract thousands. You’ll see everything from an adorable (and hilarious) dog costume contest to a well-designed haunted walk. And don’t miss the festivities at Owl’s Head Park! Games, vendors, food, and pony rides are all available to locals and visitors.
5. Park Slope Halloween Parade | October
Quite possibly the largest children’s march in the nation, Park Slope’s Halloween Parade has been a quintessential Brooklyn event since 1986. Each year, merchants on Seventh and Fifth Avenues hand out treats to costumed children as the streets swarm with trick-or-treaters all afternoon and evening. Don’t forget to dress up!
