1. Cherry Blossom Festival | April

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has over 30 varieties of cherry trees that bloom at different times in the spring. The best time to see them is during the annual Brooklyn Cherry Blossom Festival, also know as Sakura Matsuri. This unique festival explores Japanese culture and their traditional celebration of the cherry blossom season. It features over 60 events and performances over the course of one weekend and always draws huge crowds. Be sure to purchase your tickets early!

2. Plant Sale | May

Want to spruce up your home or garden? Check out the BBG’s annual plant sale! You can browse the largest collection of plants in the metropolitan area and attend free talks and workshops that focus on gardening.

3. Chile Pepper Festival | October

If you’re a fan of all things spicy, head to the Chile Pepper Festival in October. New York’s hottest fall tradition features live music performances and plenty of delicious treats. Enjoy samples from 62 of the spiciest food vendors in the area, including hot sauces, chile chocolates, hot pickles, and more. You can even pot up a chile pepper plant to take home with you.

4. Ghouls & Gourds | October

5. Light In Winter | December – March

At “Light in Winter”, guests can explore the Brooklyn Botanic Garden during the quietest time of the year. You’ll meet a trained Garden Guide at the Steinhardt Conservatory entrance and tour the exotic flora of tropical, desert, and Mediterranean climates – without even leaving Brooklyn! Conservatory Seasonal Highlights Tours are offered every Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday from December to March.
